Notes

So for anyone following along, there appears to be a two year gap in releases to address with best excuses being something about a pandemic, professional opportunities, teaching schedules and general life, the universe and everything. And on top of that, Bandcamp Friday. While there’s no doubt there was a certain degree of altruism dreamt up by the marketing department at said app, the cultural expectation that musicians (or “creatives,” if you will) are suddenly expected to have a release (“content”) on a monthly basis as a way of satiating the attention economy in exponentially smaller release cycles of significance in an oversaturated market – yeah, kind of toxic. And by kind of, I actually mean really toxic. Way to to go again, internet. Either way, the novelty of running a netlabel as kind of an ironic throwback/homage to early-aughts web culture, as well as a decent way of getting you and your friend’s work out into the stratosphere without having to play physical format game was rendered moot. And then life happened and suddenly it’s 2024. Not to say that things haven’t happened in the meantime.

In the case of f.org, we managed to record a fair amount during the pandemic – and not just via the whole dropbox collaboration, mind you. As soon as we were cleared for travel, we managed to meet up in San José to record. And again, as soon as we were could perform, we did perform – all of which are documented here. But again, back to that whole internet thing – not wanting to release yet another album into the void, we opted to change things up around HQ and retool ourselves as an outlet for physical releases – which yes, kind of defeats the purpose of why VFI even started in the first place, but eh, here we are. So for this guy, on top of the usual digital thing, we also have a pretty nifty tape riding shotgun for those interested in ephemera. All said, we hope you like it. Speaking of, here’s how it sounds:
